Its Hard to be Anti-Foreign Aid, When Your Jewish Family Think You Are Anti-Israel

My family is on to me because I posted this message on my wall a few days ago:
“Members of my own family think i do not support Israel because i do not agree with sending our young men and women to die over there and because i think we should end all foreign aid. They tell me Iran is a danger to Israel that they are building a nuclear weapon and want Israel wiped off the map.”

Private message on Facebook from one of my cousins:
“Hi Paul – how are you? What is the situation with you and Ron Paul? Every day I see lots of messages from you on Facebook seemingly endorsing him. It seems that this is out of character to how I know you. Is he paying you for this? What I do know is that he has stated that israel should not exist – as a Jewish American this is something you should find abhorrent and obnoxious – I certainly do. Please can you let me know what is going on as aside from anything else, all these messages of yours are very confusing and annoying.”

My Response:
“Great to hear from you bro.
Before I begin, I hope it goes without saying that I am PRO Israel. But I have to say, I got a VERY good laugh when you told me that Ron Paul stated that Israel should not exist. I have been following this man almost daily for 2 years and have heard pretty much every word he has said over the past few years (at least publicly!) and I can assure you that your statement is based on lies and propaganda. I met the man, had lunch with him and 50 other people and spoke to his wife and granddaughter for 10 minutes. He is an incredibly kind, understated, peaceful man who possess an intellectual capacity far greater than most of the US presidents.I think part of my amusement at your statement is the fact that Ron Paul and Netanyahu have almost the exact same position on how the US should treat Israel. Here is what he said to Congress:

“My friends, you don’t need to do nation building in Israel. We’re already built. You don’t need to export democracy to Israel. We’ve already got it. You don’t need to send American troops to defend Israel. We defend ourselves.”

What he is really saying is “stop trying to control us and tell us what to do. Butt out of our business!” That is Ron Paul’s position as well. Why do they both feel this way? BECAUSE WE CONTROL THEM WITH THE MONEY. We undermine Israel’s sovereignty by demanding that it’s foreign and defense policies be essentially pre-approved in Washington. That is a bad deal for Israel, as sovereign nations must determine on their OWN what is a most appropriate national defense. On foreign policy as well, the U.S. steps in to prevent Israel from engaging in dialogue with nations of which the U.S. administration disapproves.

One of the definitions of Zionism and an allegiance to Israel is a belief in 2 core values: Jewish independence and Jewish self reliance and right now they have neither. I want them to have their sovereignty.

Speaking of foreign aid, did you know that the surrounding Arab nations get SEVEN times as much aid as Israel gets and also a recent study came out that showed that for every dollar we give to an Arab nation, it prompts Israel to spend 1.4 dollars? You think the US cares about Israel? They only care about protecting their own interests (aka oil and power).

Our foreign military aid to Israel is actually more like corporate welfare to the U.S. military industrial complex, as Israel is forced to purchase only U.S. products with the assistance. We send almost twice as much aid to other countries in the Middle East, which only insures increased militarization and the drive toward war.

And there is more.

If you research a little and see past the lies and propaganda you will find Ron Paul was in Congress when Israel bombed Iraq’s Osirak nuclear plant in 1981 and—unlike the United Nations and the Reagan administration—DEFENDED its right to do so.

The mainstream media lies. I seek out independent news sources mainly on the internet. I have found the segment called “reality check” to be accurate, balanced reporting based on integrity and facts. Here is what they said about Ron Paul and Israel –

Foreign Aid
Ron Paul is anti-foreign aid, for ALL countries, including Israel. And I agree with him for reasons mentioned above and many others (which I will expand upon below). That does not mean he thinks Israel should not exist. How absurd. Anti-foreign aid is not anti-Israel.

The document that created the Unites States does not grant permission to Congress or the President to authorize funds to be taken from the national treasure and given to foreign countries. Besides the congressional position, there is the moral one. Where is the justification for STEALING money from people of the United States and then giving it to those in other countries? And if you think taxation aint theft, you are very wrong. Theft is defined as “the taking of another person’s property without that person’s permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it.” I never gave my consent for the government to take my money. Extortion is defined as “a criminal offence of unlawfully obtaining money, property, or services from a person, entity, or institution, through coercion.” We must pay this money or else we will eventually find a gun pointed at our heads and then we will be thrown in prison. Our government obtains money through theft, force and coercion – a criminal offense. But that’s another discussion.

Foreign aid takes money from poor people in rich countries and gives it to rich people in foreign countries. The amount of foreign aid that actually reaches those who need it, is dramatically reduced after the numerous levels of bureaucracy within each government is paid for the distribution and any corrupt politician then takes their cut. The use of foreign aid creates instability and promotes an anti-American view. Look at Egypt, for example, where the US was spending billions of dollars to prop up a regime that was opposed by a vast majority of the people there. For the money we spent there, the US received a nation of people who opposed our involvement and are now untrusting of the US. The instability and corruption that foreign aid fosters only serves to discredit the US and lower our moral standing in the world. Because foreign aid comes from governments, it usually has political strings attached to it, and as such is really a cover for political interventionism.

Why Do I Love Ron Paul?
Ron Paul is the first presidential candidate since JFK that was not chosen by the banking elite, who truly represents the people. I want to live in a society that is based on voluntary, mutual consent, not on coercion and violence. So does Ron Paul. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8TI-pm0m2o). I want to stop the wars. So does Ron Paul. I want a new framework with how we deal with the world. So does Ron Paul. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc_VW-BBIpY). I believe our military doesn’t defend the American people, that it is the strong-arm muscle of corporations. So does Ron Paul. I want to stop our militarism, interventionism and policing the world. So does Ron Paul. I want to stop sending our kids to die in foreign lands for corporations. So does Ron Paul. I want to end our fiat monetary system and Federal Reserve. So Does Ron.
I believe in the principles of non-aggression and honoring property rights. A respect and protection for property rights means I own my land and do not have to continue to pay rent to the government (“property tax”). It also means I own the fruits of my labor – all of it – because that is my property. It means voluntary mutual consent.

I could go on all day my friend.
